Frequently AskedQuestions

A little clarity before the celebration.

Ordering and Quotes

How do I order a custom cake?

Submit the Get a Cake Quote form with your event date, cake size or estimated number of guests, flavour, reference image and fulfilment details. We will review the request and reply with availability and pricing.

Is a quote request an order confirmation?

No. A quote request allows us to assess the cake. Your order is confirmed only after we accept the request, receive full payment and issue a written confirmation.

How early should I order?

Plushie and Classic Ribbon cakes must be ordered at least four days in advance. For custom quoted cakes, please order at least two weeks in advance where possible. Earlier notice is recommended for wedding cakes, multiple tiers, large orders, detailed hand-drawn work and peak dates.

Can I place an urgent order?

You may check with us, but acceptance depends on production capacity. Urgent orders usually require a fixed design and clear reference. Available sizes, flavours, details and fulfilment windows may be limited.

How long will a quote take?

Please allow approximately 48 to 72 hours for a reply. We usually respond to cake quotes Tuesday to Thursday, 5pm to 10pm; this may take longer during a cake rush or if important information is missing. A reply time is not an order guarantee.

How long is my quoted slot held?

A quoted slot is provisional. If your event is within five days, it may be released after 24 hours without full payment; for events five to fourteen days away, after 48 hours; and for events more than fourteen days away, after three days. Your quotation or message will confirm its applicable expiry. No slot is guaranteed until full payment is verified and written confirmation is issued.

Can I order through Instagram direct message?

Please use our quote form for cake requests. It collects the information we need and reduces missed details. Social media messages are not treated as confirmed quote requests.

How much do your cakes weigh?

We size our cakes by dimensions and recommended servings rather than weight, as different flavours have different densities. Please refer to our Cake Size Guide to choose a size for your guest count.

Cake Design and Flavours

Can you copy a cake exactly?

No. Reference images help us understand the style, colours and important elements. Every cake is handmade, and we will create a Kekki interpretation rather than an exact reproduction of another artist's work.

Can you replicate an AI-generated cake image?

AI images may contain shapes, structures, textures or details that are not physically workable. We can use the image as inspiration, but the final cake will be adapted to a safe and practical buttercream design.

Do you make full fondant cakes?

Kekki specialises in buttercream cakes. We do not offer full fondant cakes or designs that require extensive fondant coverage. Small fondant details may be considered where suitable.

Will I receive a drawing or draft before I order?

No. We do not provide design concepts, sketches or drafts before the order is confirmed. Your quotation will describe the agreed direction based on the reference and information you provide.

Will I receive progress photographs?

Usually not. We may not provide progress photos or status updates during production, especially during peak periods. We will contact you if clarification is needed.

Why do colours look different from my reference?

Buttercream colours are mixed by hand and can look different under various lighting, screens and cameras. Dark or highly saturated colours may also stain the mouth or clothing.

Can I change the design after confirming?

Request design, colour, lettering, size, shape, flavour and decoration changes at least seven calendar days before the event. All changes are subject to availability, feasibility and any price difference. Requests with less notice may be declined.

Halal, Dietary Needs and Allergens

Is Kekki Cakery Halal-certified?

Yes. Kekki Cakery is MUIS Halal-Certified. Please contact us if you need to check the current certification details before ordering.

Are eggless cakes available?

No. Kekki does not currently offer eggless cakes. Please tell us about allergies before ordering; our kitchen handles eggs and other common allergens.

Can you make an allergy-safe cake?

We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. Our kitchen handles common baking allergens, including wheat or gluten, milk, eggs, soya and nuts. Tell us about allergies before ordering so we can advise whether we are able to accept the request.

Do you offer gluten-free or dairy-free cakes?

Kekki does not currently offer gluten-free cakes or a guaranteed dairy-free option. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment. Please ask us about ingredients before ordering if you have a dietary concern.

Where can I find ingredient or allergen information?

Ask us before ordering if you need information about a specific flavour or add-on. Ingredient and allergen details can differ between flavours and decorative items.

Delivery and Collection

What delivery windows are available?

Our standard delivery windows are 9am to 1pm, 2pm to 5pm and 3pm to 7pm. Availability depends on the date, location and courier routing. Monday is delivery only.

Delivery fees for subtotals below S$260 (standard window / booked one-hour): Residential (Non CBD or Town) S$18 / S$33; Malls / Office / SAFRA (Non CBD or Town) S$25 / S$40; Town / CBD / Hotel / Chalet / Hospital / Sentosa S$30 / S$45. Self-collection is free. One-hour is a booked appointment between 9am and 8pm, not delivery within an hour of ordering. Select the checkout rate matching your delivery category.

Can I request an exact delivery time?

Standard delivery does not guarantee a specific arrival time. Booked one-hour delivery is S$33–S$45 below S$260, or S$15–S$27 for subtotals of S$260 or more, depending on your delivery category. Choose a booked one-hour appointment between 9am and 8pm, subject to courier availability and location. This is not delivery within an hour of ordering.

Do you offer complimentary delivery?

For subtotals of S$260 or more, delivery fees (standard window / booked one-hour) are: Residential (Non CBD or Town) free / S$15; Malls / Office / SAFRA (Non CBD or Town) S$7 / S$22; Town / CBD / Hotel / Chalet / Hospital / Sentosa S$12 / S$27. The S$18 delivery allowance is already included in these fees. Self-collection remains free.

Where is self-collection?

Self-collection is free and by appointment in Kovan, Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 12pm. Monday is delivery only. Your confirmed collection window and exact instructions will be sent after payment.

Can I collect outside my confirmed time?

Request a collection time change at least seven calendar days before your event; it is subject to availability. If a last-minute delay occurs, contact us promptly, but we cannot guarantee a new collection time.

What if nobody is available to receive the delivery?

Please ensure someone is home for the full delivery window to receive the cake and refrigerate it promptly. Kekki is not liable for damage after delivery when no recipient is present. If delivery fails, waiting, return or redelivery charges may apply. A second attempt depends on courier availability. If the perishable cake remains uncollected after reasonable contact and an agreed collection arrangement, Kekki may dispose of it when it is no longer safe or suitable to supply; change-of-mind refunds do not apply.

Related terms: Section 30

Can the cake be left outside?

Only if you give written instructions and accept the risks. We will provide photo proof where possible, but cannot be responsible for melting, weather exposure, pests, pets, theft or damage after the cake is left unattended.

What should I check at handover?

Check the box, visible cake condition, wording and key order details where practical. Your acceptance records that the cake appeared to be in good condition at handover. Report visible damage immediately, ideally before acceptance and within 15 minutes after handover, so we can check what happened. An error or issue that was not reasonably apparent at handover can still be raised.

Storage, Transport and Serving

How should I store the cake?

Keep the cake refrigerated and away from direct sun, heat and humidity. Follow any product-specific instructions included with your order.

How long can the cake stay outside?

As a general guide, a buttercream cake may be displayed for about 45 to 60 minutes in air-conditioning around 20 degrees Celsius. Warm venues, outdoor settings and direct sunlight can shorten this time significantly.

How should I transport the cake?

Place the box flat on the car floor or another stable, level surface in a cold air-conditioned cabin. Do not place it on a seat, in the boot or where it can slide. Drive gently and avoid sudden braking.

Can I use ice packs?

Kekki does not provide ice packs. Transport the cake in a pre-cooled, air-conditioned car with the box flat and secure. Do not place loose ice packs against the box; condensation can affect the cake. Tall and two-tier cakes require extra care and may not be suitable for a long self-collection journey.

When is the cake best consumed?

Most cakes are best enjoyed within one to two days when stored correctly. Fresh fruit, cream-based fillings and other perishable components may require earlier consumption.

Changes, Cancellations and Concerns

Can I cancel my order?

Confirmed orders cannot be cancelled for a change-of-mind cash refund. If Kekki approves a store credit, we will state the amount, validity and conditions in writing.

Related terms: Sections 10 and 27

Can I change the event date?

Please request any event-date change at least seven calendar days before the original event. It is subject to capacity and any additional costs; the new date is confirmed only in writing.

Related terms: Section 9

What if I entered the wrong wording or details?

Please check the spelling, event date, size, flavour and fulfilment details before paying. Request corrections at least seven calendar days before the event. We will assess later corrections where possible, but cannot promise them once production has begun.

Related terms: Sections 1 and 9

What if there is an issue with my cake?

Please inspect the cake when it is delivered or collected. Tell us immediately about visible damage, ideally before accepting it and no later than 15 minutes after handover, with your order number and clear photos or video. Once the cake is accepted in good visible condition, Kekki is not responsible for damage caused by later transport, storage or handling. We will still assess an error or issue that existed at handover, including one that was not reasonably visible then. Please keep the cake and packaging available where practical.

Refunds, Returns and Handmade Cakes

Can I return or exchange a cake?

Made-to-order cakes are perishable, so we do not accept returns or exchanges for a change of mind after collection or delivery. Tell us promptly about a genuine defect or material difference from the agreed order so we can assess it.

Related terms: Sections 19 and 25

How will an approved refund be paid?

Approved monetary refunds are paid via PayNow within 72 hours after written refund confirmation and receipt of correct PayNow details. Please check the registered mobile number or UEN you supply. A complaint or request is not automatic refund approval.

Related terms: Section 28

What if Kekki cannot fulfil my confirmed order?

We will contact you and offer a monetary refund for the unfulfilled order or a store credit if you prefer. An approved monetary refund follows the PayNow process.

Related terms: Sections 28 and 29

Can I postpone my order?

Request postponement at least seven calendar days before the original event. It is subject to availability, revised pricing and any costs already incurred. The new date must be confirmed in writing.

Related terms: Sections 9 and 27

What if I arrange my own courier?

A friend, family member, representative or customer-arranged courier may collect on your behalf. Please give us their name and contact details in advance, and ask them to inspect the cake at handover. They should use a suitable air-conditioned car and keep the cake flat and secure; do not use a motorcycle or car boot. Handover to your nominated person counts as handover to you. Damage during transport arranged by you after handover in good condition is your responsibility; we will still assess any issue that existed at handover.

Related terms: Section 31

Do handmade cakes have imperfections?

Yes. Small differences in piping, hand-drawn details, colours and decorative placement are natural. Please order only if you are comfortable with reasonable handmade variation. Significant errors and genuine quality concerns will still be assessed.

Related terms: Section 5

How are abusive or dishonest claims handled?

We welcome honest feedback. Where there is reasonable evidence of deliberate tampering, fabricated evidence, knowingly false allegations or threats intended to obtain an improper benefit, we may preserve records, seek advice and take appropriate action. Genuine complaints and truthful reviews remain welcome.

Related terms: Section 26

What responsibility do I accept after receiving the cake?

Cakes are handmade, perishable, temperature-sensitive and fragile. Once the cake has been handed over in good visible condition, you or your nominated collector are responsible for its transport, refrigeration, storage, handling, display and serving. You must also remove all flowers, supports and other non-edible items before cutting or serving the cake.

This does not remove responsibility for a genuine defect, material order error, unsafe food or another issue that already existed at handover.
