Storage & serving

Keep refrigerated until shortly before serving.

Prepare enough flat refrigerator space before collecting or receiving your cake. Keep the cake box upright and avoid placing other items on top of it. You may contact Kekki in advance for the approximate box dimensions if you need to check the available space.

Buttercream may feel firm immediately after refrigeration. For a softer texture and fuller flavour, allow the refrigerated cake to soften for approximately 30–60 minutes in an air-conditioned room before serving. Actual timing may vary depending on the cake’s size and room temperature. Do not leave the cake in direct sunlight, heat or humidity.

Freezing may affect the cake’s buttercream, filling, decorations and overall finish. Only freeze the cake when Kekki has provided specific instructions for your order.

After cutting, place leftover cake in a covered or airtight container and return it to the refrigerator promptly.

For the best flavour and texture, consume the cake within one to two days. Cakes containing fresh fruit or other highly perishable ingredients should be consumed earlier. Always follow any care instructions provided with your particular order.

Dark and highly saturated buttercream colours are made using food-grade colouring. However, strong colours may temporarily stain the mouth, teeth, hands, clothing or nearby surfaces. Please handle and consume them carefully.

Every Kekki cake is handmade and decorated individually. Small differences, natural variations and minor imperfections are part of a handmade product and are not manufacturing defects.

Different cake designs, fillings, structures and decorations may require different handling. Any product-specific instructions supplied by Kekki with your order take priority over the general guidance on this page.

Transporting your cake

Tall Kekki cake secured in a transparent box on the flat floor of an air-conditioned private car
  1. 1 Pre-cool the car
  2. 2 Place the box on a flat surface
  3. 3 Keep the air-conditioning running
  4. 4 Drive gently and avoid sudden braking
  5. 5 No car seat, car boot or motorcycle

We recommend keeping the journey within 45 minutes in a properly pre-cooled, air-conditioned private car. Longer journeys increase the risk of movement, softening or damage. Tell Kekki your expected travelling time in advance if the journey will exceed 45 minutes.

Tall and tiered cakes have a higher centre of gravity and require especially careful handling. They must remain completely level and may not be suitable for long self-collection journeys. Kekki may recommend delivery or provide additional instructions depending on the cake design.

Cake-box dimensions vary according to the cake’s size, height and decorations. Contact Kekki before collection if you need the approximate dimensions to check your refrigerator and vehicle space.

Always support the cake box firmly from its base using both hands. Do not carry it by the transparent sides, lid, ribbon or cutlery box. Kekki does not provide a carrying bag because swinging and uneven support can damage the cake.
